Mobile
Jonas Vorwerk

The Mobile merges the idea of the kinetic sculpture with a new sense of dynamics introduced by the use of light and digital programming. Its structure can be randomly set in motion by air movement while the 3600 lights animate it, fluently fluctuating from one color intensity to another.

‘A mobile structure set in motion by air movement, animated by lights fluently fluctuating from one color intensity to another.’

The Mobile continues Jonas’ interest in triggering new sensations created by the combination of technology, nature and the digital media. This installation inspired by the work of Alexander Calder explores two different dimensions of subtle change. It merges the idea of the kinetic sculpture with a new sense of dynamics introduced by the use of light and digital programming. Its structure can be randomly set in motion by the air movement while the 3600 lights animate it, fluently fluctuating from one color intensity to another. This subtle sense of motion, both natural and digital makes this giant structure seem somewhat delicate and unconstant, at the same time offering a unique experience to each spectator who will be immersed in a sensation of movement, light and changing colors.

About Jonas Vorwerk
Various disciplines come together in Jonas Vorwerk’s work: sound, light, interaction and technology. High-end technology is used as a means to achieve a goal: an installation that connects different disciplines and that can be intuitively operated and understood by a layman. All of Jonas’ designs were created through research and experimentation. Not only the development of his work is based on experimentation and crossovers – Jonas also challenges users to do this. Without them, the work is not alive – they are almost forced to experiment with the work and find out what it does (to them).
