OUR MISSION

Highlight Delft empowers audiences to become active participants in their creative and technological future. We do this by hosting the annual Highlight Festival and by supporting artists and researchers through residency programs at the intersection of art, design, and technology.

As an international art and technology platform, we are deeply invested in democratic technology, innovation that belongs to everyone. Our mission is to make hidden technology, creativity, and experimentation visible and accessible, showing how creative and technical minds together can reimagine the world around us. We connect makers with audiences, research with play, and ideas with real spaces in the city.

Highlight is where art & technology collide in an explosion of creativity, possibility, and experimentation. We make art & technology tangible, immersive and inclusive.

ABOUT HIGHLIGHT

Now in its ninth year, Highlight Festival transforms Delft into a playground for art and technology. Each edition brings together artists, designers, engineers, and researchers to create site-specific installations across the city. From light and sound to robotics and data, and research and fine art, the festival invites visitors to explore innovation and creativity in unexpected ways, not just as spectators, but as active participants in shaping the future. Highlight connects artists and technologists to explore new possibilities of technology through hands-on experimentation. By bringing together creative makers, researchers, and developers, we create space for tangible experiences, unexplored ideas, and new narratives about how humans can shape their world with technology.
Through residencies hosted with tech companies and knowledge institutions, artists work within environments rich in expertise — leading to fresh perspectives and new artistic outcomes, from installations and demonstrators to performances and public interventions. With over 30 installations spread across unique locations in Delft, we need extra hands to make it all happen. As a volunteer, you’ll host one of the locations: welcoming visitors, checking wristbands, and introducing the artworks.
